Security

Ericsson’s vision of a Networked Society states that by the year 2020 we’ll have 50 billion connected devices and that everything that can benefit from a connection will be connected. For this to become a reality, it is of utmost importance that we provide sufficient security and privacy. We absolutely do not want to see "50 Billion security threats" or that "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong", to paraphrase Ericsson’s vision.
Mobile and fixed networks that are used for interconnecting devices and users to services need to be reliable, even in the presence of cyber-attacks. Clouds must safeguard business-critical and privacy-critical data for users and enterprises. The scale (number of devices and users) pose challenges from the point of view of convenience and automation of security.
In this Research Topic, we will discuss the problems and solutions to such issues and provide some basic building blocks that can be used for prototyping purposes, including for example enablers for fundamental security functions such as user/device authentication, authorization and key management. You can also find security-related discussions in many of our other research topics.
