Future Internet Platform
Did you know that Ericsson is an active member of FI-WARE?
For those of you who don’t know, Future Internet (the FI in FI-WARE) is the name given to a new era in the evolution of the Internet, where services and applications in all sectors of society and business are easily developed and customized. They can easily accessed by users and are available anytime anywhere in a secure manner. These services and applications are provided with flexible and sustainable business models.
Some key components of the Future Internet are:
- the Internet of Things
- Contextual Data
- Cloud Computing and
- Flexible Service Creations
FI-WARE is the cornerstone of the Future Internet PPP program , which is a joint action by the European Industry and the European Commission to support the emergence of Future Internet applications. Also included in the FI-PPP program are so-called Use Case (UC) projects which will develop proof-of-concept applications for various sectors.
The Use Case projects will be able to use the FI-WARE testbed for their trials, which is expected to validate the platform in the context of smart applications and the ability to support “user driven” innovation schemes.
Some 30+ partners are active in FI-Ware. Ericsson is contributing with technology enablers for Service and Application Delivery, Internet of Things, Interface to Networks & Devices, and to Developer community.
From June 4th to 8th, FI-WARE and the Use Case projects will gather in Madrid to educate each other on technology and requirements. During this Software Architects Week, FI-WARE chapters will describe the basic concepts, architecture and APIs of its Generic Enablers (GEs). The UC projects will present scenarios, including the story-line, services, architecture of components, FI-WARE GEs already identified as exploitable as well as test bed requirements.
