New Release of Ericsson Labs Web-RTC Browser Engine

We have just made a new release of our experimental browser engine with support for real-time communication and you will get it automatically if you update your previous installation. The single most requested thing by the community so far has been a version for 64-bit platforms. We are glad to announce that this release includes a 64-bit Ubuntu package in addition to the 32-bit.

The new release includes bug fixes and aligns better with the latest specification. One thing to note is that the function signalingMessage() has been renamed to processSignalingMessage(). Hopefully the new name is more descriptive; however this change will break your old JavaScript code. Be sure to do a search-and-replace before you try to run your code with the latest release.

If you are new to this, see the installation instructions page on how to get started using the experimental browser.

Hi,
..............
Add the Ericsson Labs APT repository to the list of sources
sudo add-apt-repository http://files.labs.ericsson.net/ubuntu
............
This link is broken.

That link is not browsable with your web browser. However, it works as a repository source.

Hi there,

I have installed this modified webkit and tried it, works like a charm. Thank you for your effort.
But i am facing the problem in making a standalone application.

When i browse through the link you mentioned it works fine. Also the documentation code is fine till the point of local camera access.

But the code mentioned for initiating a call somehow never seem to work.

Is there something i am missing, or is there something not listed in the documentation??

Awaiting your response,

I do not quite understand your question. The webrtc example demo works like this:

1. Launch Client A, verify captcha, a url is displayed.
2. Launch Client B by using the above url, then click accept button.
3. Peers are connected, and chat page is displayed.
4. Choose audio/video device, start video chat.

Where did yor stuck? On which step?

Hi ,
I installed the webkit and Epiphany browser as per the instructions on Ubuntu 11.10 version. When i launch GtkLauncher or Epiphany browser and try to visit the (https://webrtc.labs.ericsson.net) it is always going to unsupported.html page.

is there some thing more i need to make it work ...?

Thanks,
shiva

Hi

The Ubuntu WebKit library (for 11.10) has been updated and overrides our modified package. We will create a new package to resolve this.

Hi - I also had the same problem.
Do you know roughly when the new package will happen?

Thanks for releasing it, by the way

Cheers
Mark

I had a similar problem with an Ubuntu 11.10 VM. I decided to use ubuntu 11.04 instead and it worked perfectly.

Yes, it's only problem for 11.10.

Hi,
I am using Ubuntu11.04 and Epiphany and I do all the things that says in web-rtc-tutorial. When I enter https://webrtc.labs.ericsson.net/ or use my server to enter http://localhost/videochat-example/ ,the captcha is not accepted. It always appear something such as https://webrtc.labs.ericsson.net/?user_code=RPAD

I want to know why?

Thanks!
