Live Bowser demo app available

Test audio/video communication in Bowser without a server

Many of you have been asking about a simple way to test audio/video communication in Bowser without having to set up your own server. Now it's here!

Navigate to the URL below on two devices running Bowser and replace "my_token" with something unique:

http://webrtc.labs.ericsson.net:8082/#my_token

You can also go to http://webrtc.labs.ericsson.net:8082/ and let the app choose a token for you. The code for the demo app is available (with a slightly simpler UI) on the sample code page.

A new version 0.1.2 of Bowser was released last week with the following changes:

  • Disabled gathering of IPv6 host candidates
  • Added support for non-multiplexed RTP/RTCP
  • Enabled RFC 5245 compliant ICE support
  • Fixed bugs and increased stability

Some of these issues were found by developers when running Bowser in different scenarios. We appreciate the feedback and are currently working on a new version of Bowser that fixes some other reported issues, as well as adding additional stability enhancements and some new features. This new version should be available in a week or two. In the meantime, if you want to communication with the Ericsson Research WebRTC Team, the best way is through the Ericsson Labs WebRTC group.

Was able to establish calls between two iPhones, both on Wifi and behind different NATs. Unable to establish calls over 3G/4G, or mixed (one party WiFi, the other LTE). Audio is currently rendered through the handset speaker rather than the main (bottom) speaker, which makes it extremely hard to use.

Hi Ericsson,

You might want to consider making one of those demo links in this article clickable. Bowser doesn't have a lot of features, which is okay since it's just for demos, but please don't make us type the **entire URL** on our mobile keypads. This will make it easier for people to use and test your demo and report bugs to you.

Do they still give free microsoft points as awards for the first 50 individuals to join on this? This app very helpful especially to me in whom the most important person in my life is far to me and all we can do to communicate is through online.
