Internet of Things

We are at a great divide. The "Next Big Thing" is actually a "Trillion Small Things". We are talking about the Internet of Things.

Embedded networked micro controllers with sensors and actuators are about to be in any tangible object or place, ready to observe and control the real world. Imagine tiny web servers in all embedded devices, ready to connect to the Internet and provide their observations and services to a new set of Web applications.

Ericsson has a vision of 50 Billion connected devices by 2020. Is that really enough? We also talk about the Networked Society, where all aspects of people's lives, the operations of enterprises and society in general are impacted by the proliferation of communications. The Internet of Things will be a major cornerstone of the emerging Networked Society. We cannot contain ourselves any longer from talking about it, so we will start blogging.

In this blog series, we will be sharing experiences from building prototypes and deploying them, discussing what kind of architectures and ecosystems are needed for the Internet of Things, and presenting some of our latest research results and ideas as well as important events, just to name a few.
