Ericsson Labs to Discuss Security at Over the Air

The Networked Society -- New Possibilities but also New Threats

At next week’s Over the Airevent in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Ericsson Labs will give you a hands-on view of future and existing security tools. We will show examples of how to establish a trusted identity, how to do mash-ups of multiple data feeds, and how to secure peer-to-peer communication.

In today's highly competitive market and with the ever-increasing expectations of consumers, short development cycles and low development costs are essential for any software business. As security seldom provides any visible features, it is often added too late or perhaps not at all.

When everything is connected this lack of security consciousness can quickly lead to disastrous effects. You definitely want to be certain that the right friend gets access to your car and that the lawnmower cuts your lawn and not your neighbor’s.

One way forward is to establish a common set of security mechanisms, or tools, that can be easily integrated with applications. Ideally, such tools should also be understandable and suitable to the common user.

After our workshop, you are welcome to participate in the hack-a-thon and join our Networked Society competition where a Sony Ericsson Xperia arc will be awarded.

Attendance is free, other than a £5 donation to Bletchley Park. Click here to register.
