Get early access to experimental browser features for real-time voice and video communication.

Example app

Through emerging web standards, it will soon be possible to build web applications with support for real-time voice and video communication without the need for plug-ins. By downloading and using (with a suitable browser) a modified WebKit library experimentation can be done with these new features. Here is an example of a web app that can be built and run:

Since spring 2010, Ericsson Research has been doing experimental implementations of Web-RTC in WebKit GTK+ (see 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5). We have gotten a lot of requests from developers wanting to try out these new exciting features, and we are now happy to announce that we are making our latest implementation available for developers to try out!

The modified WebKit library supports a sub-set of the current WhatWG "Web Real-Time Communication APIs" specification, see the Documentation page for details on how to get started.

We would love to get your feedback. Please join the Google Group and post a question or comment to let us know what you think.

NOTE! The implementation should be considered both unstable and insecure. Do not use it in production. It is merely a way get hands-on experience of upcoming browser features.
